Madagascar Bean Phaseolus lunatus
A vigorous, climbing, tropical lima bean, it lives for many years and is excellent at coping with wet, humid conditions so does well in the Great Southern. It can be used as a tropical alternative to broad beans or as a dried bean. The dried beans cook quickly. Purplish/white seeds. (ex-Julian P.).
Borage Borago officinalis
Traditionally Borage was cultivated for culinary and medicinal uses. Use flowers and young leaves in salads. Excellent at bringing bees to the garden. A real bee-magnet. (ex-Julian P.)
Broad Bean 'Aquadulce' Vicia faba
Broad beans are eaten either as a young pod or a mature bean, fresh or dried. Also useful as a winter green manure. Sow late summer, autumn, winter. Best in temperate areas; it may fail to flower and bear well in warmer areas. 'Aquadulce' is an heirloom broad bean variety with a great flavour. It produces an early, prolific crop on tall plants, pods are 15-18 cm long. (ex-Julian P.)
Nasturtium Tropaeolum
All parts of the plant are edible. The flower has most often been consumed, making for an especially ornamental salad ingredient; it has a slightly peppery taste reminiscent of watercress, and is also used in stir fry. The unripe seed pods can be harvested and pickled with hot vinegar, to produce a condiment and garnish, sometimes used in place of capers, although the taste is strongly peppery. Mix of oranges, yellows and reds. (ex-Julian P.)

White flowering variety with light green pods currently in cultivation as of March 2012.
Chayote or Choko Sechium edule
Currently growing as of March 2012 for distribution to members during autumn. Prolific fruiting vine.(ex-Julian P.)
